After an impressive run, the US’s last man standing, Tommy Paul, was jettisoned by Novak Djokovic in a straight-sets semifinal slaughter on Friday.
The Joker will now face Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in a rematch of the 2021 French Open final – a five-set victory by Djokovic.

The king of Melbourne Park doesn’t appear to be ready to give up his throne. With his throttling of Tommy Paul on Friday, Novak Djokovic has now won 27 consecutive matches at the Australian Open – an Open-era record.
The Serb has yet to lose a semifinal or final at the AO, going a perfect 19-0. If he can make it 20, he’ll win his 10th Aussie Open championship and tie Rafael Nadal for the most Grand Slam titles of all time (22).
Standing in his way will be No. 3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. Greece’s top-ranked player will be out to avenge his 2021 French final loss to Djokovic – a match in which he was up two sets to none before coming unglued.
The world No. 4 is 10-0 on the hard court this season and has won all but one of his Australian Open matches in straight sets. There’s more on the line in this one than a trophy. The victor will also take over the world No. 1 ranking on the ATP tour.
Djokovic has dominated in head-to-head battles 10-3 and has won the last eight matches between the two.
