We are down to the final two from a draw that started with 32 players in the Czech capital. Anastasia Potapova and Marie Bouzkova will square off for the WTA Prague Open crown. Both Potapova and Bouzkova have looked very sharp so far, but something must give on Sunday. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our preview and prediction of the final, but who will come out on top?
WTA Prague Final Prediction
Anastasia Potapova vs Marie Bouzkova
Head-to-head: Bouzkova 1-0 Potapova
This will be the second time Potapova and Bouzkova have met on tour. The first meeting came earlier this year in the qualifying rounds of Miami. Bouzkova edged out Potapova 6-3 3-6 6-4. The Czech native is looking to repeat that result and capture her first career WTA title on her home soil. 21-year-old Potapova stands in her way, hunting for her second career title.
The pair are separated by just seven ranking positions and have proven to be very tough to beat on the hard court this season. With that said, the recent form of Bouzkova has been really impressive to watch. The 24-year-old has won nine of her last ten matches after making a dream run to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. She is having success off both wings and is coming off of a semifinal match where she struck seven aces past her compatriot Linda Noskova.
Bouzkova will continue to make deep tournament runs if she can consistently harness her first serve to such effect. Potapova, however, has also looked sharp so far at the WTA Prague Open. The Russian, seeded seventh this week, has not dropped a set in beating Wang Xiyu, Zhu Lin, top seed Anett Kontaveit and Wang Qiang. In fact, she has lost just five games in her last two matches.
Expect to see a very competitive three-set match here with both players in such form. But Bouzkova may well have the edge. The support of the home fans should help to get over the finish line and win her first title at this level.
Prediction: Bouzkova in 3
