Bernarda Pera in action ahead of the WTA Budapest Grand Prix.

It’s finals day at the WTA Budapest Grand Prix. Serbia’s Aleksandra Krunic will be looking to win her second tour-level title when she takes on American qualifier Bernarda Pera. It should be an entertaining match, but who will walk away from Hungarian capital with the trophy?

WTA Budapest Final Prediction

Aleksandra Krunic vs Bernarda Pera

Head-to-head: Pera 2-0 Krunic

Krunic’s 6-2 6-2 victory over defending champion Yulia Putintseva was the continuation of her irresistible form this week. She has not dropped more than two games in a set since her opening-round win over Laura Siegemund. Comprehensive wins over the likes of Zhang Shuai and Xiyu Wang have catapulted the Serbian to within the world’s top 100 regardless of the finals outcome. And Krunic will now have the chance to add to her lone WTA title she won on the grass of Den Bosch four years ago.

Her next opponent Pera advanced into her maiden WTA final with a 6-3 6-4 win over home favorite Anna Bondar. Pera, like Krunic, is yet to drop a set this week. In fact, the American has won all 12 sets she has played this week, starting all the way back in the qualifying. There is no doubt that Pera is peaking at the right time and has every reason to feel confident heading into Sunday’s final. But that is even more emphatically the case for Krunic who taking on all comers with some silky play from the back of the court.

The Serbian’s ability to mix things up is working a treat at the WTA Budapest Grand Prix. Pera will need to deliver an accurate and aggressive performance by serving big and not letting Krunic dictate. However, the former-world #39 has been relentless in her return games. She should have the perfect recipe to tame the topspin of Pera in what should be a compelling final.

Prediction: Krunic in 3
