Two women outside the World;s Top 145 in Astra Sharma and Marcela Zacarias are looking for a main draw, Tour-level victory here in Rabat. Australian Astra Sharma has struggled mightily this season, holding a 3-10 record in all competitions. With that said, she does hold a career-winning percentage of 57.1 on the clay. Marcela Zacarias has played mainly on the ITF Circuit this season but does love playing on the clay. I see this match going a long three-sets, with the more battle-tested Sharma coming out on top.

Dalma Galfi vs Ulrikke Eikeri
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Dalma Galfi is 5-4 on the clay this season in all competitions. Ulrikke Eikeri is 3-2 on the clay this season. This Round 1 meeting will be the first matchup between the two. Galfi has played well in tour-level qualifying rounds this season but holds a 1-3 record in the main draw. The veteran Eikeri is 0-5 in her last five matches. I do not see her breaking that losing streak in Rabat.

Lucia Bronzetti vs Anna Kalinskaya
Head-to-Head: First meeting
Lucia Bronzetti takes on #8 seed Anna Kalinskaya for the first time in Round 1 in Rabat. The 23-year-olds are separated by just four spots in the world rankings. Bronzetti won an ITF60 event in late April before struggling in both Madrid and Rome. Anna Kalinskaya has played in just three clay-court matches this season. Because of this, I slightly favor the Italian. Lucia Bronzetti has shown a liking towards the clay and has seen success on it this season.

Garbiñe Muguruza vs Anna Danilina
Head-to-Head: First meeting
#1 seed Garbiñe Muguruza is looking to hoist a singles title in Rabat after winning the doubles event back in 2014. The current World #10 is playing in this event looking to get valuable match time on the clay after losing her first match in both Madrid and Rome. Her Round 1 opponent in Rabat is Anna Danilina. She is looking for her first tour-level main draw victory in her career. Unfortunately for Danilina, this feat will not come against a motivated Garbiñe Muguruza.
