David Goffin in action ahead of the ATP Marrakech Open.

It should be an entertaining final at the ATP Marrakech Open with David Goffin set to go head-to-head with Alex Molcan for the title in Morocco. Both men will be full of confidence and are coming into the final after strong weeks so far. As always, we here at LWOT are offering our prediction for the final, but who will come out on top?

ATP Marrakech Open Final Prediction

David Goffin vs Alex Molcan

Head-to-head: Molcan 1-0 Goffin

Goffin has a considerable advantage in terms of experience coming into this match. The Belgian has a career-high ranking of world #7 and earned his 300th tour-level win earlier this week. However, it had been a disappointing season for Goffin, who arrived at the ATP Marrakech Open with just six wins from his first 15 matches at tour-level and dropping down to the Challenger circuit didn’t spark a turn around either as he lost in the quarterfinals in Phoenix.

But he has impressed back on the European clay, probably his best surface. He started his week with a solid 6-2 7-6 win over Damir Dzumhur and that has rather set the tone for Goffin. He rallied from a set down in impressive fashion to get past the experienced Pablo Andujar in the second round, before another strong finish saw him beat Roberto Carballes Baena 4-6 6-4 6-0. Goffin then proved far too strong for Federico Coria in the semifinals, winning 6-3 6-3.

Molcan, meanwhile, arrived in Marrakech fresh from reaching the quarterfinals at the Marbella Challenger and that clay-court match practice has stood him in good stead this week. He started his campaign against Stefano Travaglia of Italy, recording a comfortable 6-0 6-4 win. He backed that up by edging out top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in a third-set tiebreak and then scored another narrow three-set win over Botic van de Zandschulp in the last eight.

In the last four, he played surely his best match of the week, beating Laslo Djere 6-1 7-5. If he can maintain that level against Goffin, it should be an excellent final. It should certainly be more competitive than their meeting earlier this season at the Melbourne Summer Set, which Molcan won comfortably. There might be a different result this time around, however. Goffin has looked very sharp this week and, at his best, is a better player than Molcan.

Prediction: Goffin in 3
