Keys Adelaide

The stars are starting to make their way on court here during Day 4 at the WTA Miami Open. The courts are playing fast and should produce some high quality matches. We at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule. But who do you think will come out on top?

WTA Miami Open Day 4 Predictions

Lauren Davis vs Storm Sanders

Head-to-Head: First meeting

American Lauren Davis will play lucky loser Storm Sanders in Round 2 after an injury withdrawal from Garbine Muguruza. Sanders lost to Xin Yu Wang in Round 2 of qualifying earlier this week. Lauren Davis made her way through qualifying and won her Round 1 match 6-4, 6-1 over Yue Yuan. Neither Davis nor Sanders has found much footing in the early 2022 season. This match will be huge for the winner who will enter Round 3 at this 1000 level event. I favor the American, who has previously made a Round 3 in Miami. She must, however, improve her first-serve percentage to continue and advance.
Prediction: Davis in 3

Clara Burel vs Petra Kvitova

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Veteran Petra Kvitova takes on 21-year-old Clara Burel in Round 2 at the Miami Open. This will be the first meeting between the two. Kvitova is looking to string together some match wins having not won more than two matches in a row since August of 2021. Burel won just her second match of the year when she defeated Magdalena Frech in Round 1. The former world #2 will be too strong and consistent for the young Frenchwoman.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2

Veronika Kudermetova vs Dalma Galfi

Head-to-Head: Galfi leads 2-0

Veronika Kudermetova currently holds her career high ranking of world #23 and will be looking to get her first win over Dalma Galfi in her third try. The two have not met since 2017. Kudermetova reached the quarterfinals of Indian Wells and has won 7 of her last 10 matches. Galfi, who worked her way through qualifying here in Miami, is also playing some good tennis. She bested Kristina Kucova 6-0 6-0 in Round 1. This one should be a physical battle, but I do favor Veronika Kudermetova who is currently playing some top-15 tennis.
Prediction: Kudermetova in 3

Madison Keys vs Anhelina Kalinina

Head-to-Head: First meeting

#26 seed Madison Keys is making her 11th appearance at the Miami Open having her best finish during a run to the quarterfinals in 2016. Her opponent, Anhelina Kalinina, is playing in just her 8th match of the season. Kalinina spent two hours and 12 minutes on the court in her Round 1 win. The American has been in great form this season highlighted by her run to the semifinals at the Australian Open. I like her to continue her winning ways in a straight set victory.
Prediction: Keys in 2
