Second round action from WTA Miami features a host of veteran players including Vera Zvonareva looking to make their mark at this high level tournament. Here is your look at all the day 3 WTA action.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Irina-Camelia Begu
Sabalenka has been pedestrian to start the season so Begu will have some chance, an early exit here after losing her opening match at Indian Wells would be a huge blow to Sabalenka’s ranking. Begu beat Hailey Baptiste in three sets, her record this season is actually slightly better than Sabalenka despite the gap in ranking. This should be a battle but Sabalenka should figure it out. Anna Kalinskaya vs Karolina Pliskova
Kalinskaya is a qualifier, Pliskova hasn’t won any of her matches this limited season thus far. Kalinskaya was also great in Indian Wells as a qualifier and is at a career high ranking. Pliskova is clearly the better player but her slow recovery from a right hand injury gives Kalinskaya the opening to get an upset, after the Russian edged her first round opponent Robin Montgomery in a tight three set match. Vera Zvonareva vs Tamara Zidansek
Zvonareva won their only meeting, she has come through qualifying to put together her best result since last year by far. Still, Zidansek is playing much more consistently in what has been a limited schedule and should have the upper hand over the wily veteran. Zidansek in 2
