ATP Delray Beach Open Final Prediction: Cameron Norrie vs Reilly Opelka

Cameron Norrie at the ATP San Diego Open.

The 2022 ATP Delray Beach Open final features the top two seeds entering the tournament in Cameron Norrie and Reilly Opelka. Both players are in top form and should provide a show for fans on championship Sunday.

ATP Delray Beach Open Final Prediction

Cameron Norrie vs Reilly Opelka

Cameron Norrie is playing in his eighth career tour-level final and first of the season. He is looking for his third career tour-level title. The Brit spent five hours and two minutes on court having played just one three-set match this week. He holds a 5-1 record since his Round 1 exit at the Australian Open.

Reilly Opelka is looking for back-to-back titles after winning last week in Dallas. He is looking for his second Delray Beach Open title having won the tournament back in 2020. All three of his matches this week went three-sets, including a 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 semifinal win over John Millman. The American has spent 7 hours and 25 minutes on court this week.

Cameron Norrie and Reilly Opelka have met two previous times at the Tour level. Opelka bested Norrie 6-3 6-4 in Cincinnati in 2020. Norrie got the better of the American 6-3 6-4 last year in Paris. The legs should be more well rested for Norrie as he played the earlier semifinal match while also spending nearly two-hours less than Opelka on court. The American has hit 56 aces thus far this week and will need that serve to be working against Norrie. Norrie has been too strong in longer points for Opelka to win this match while not serving well.

Reilly Opelka is 4-2 in tiebreaks this week and should be favored if he can get each set that far. With that being said, I believe Norrie will put enough pressure on Opelka’s service games to get him to crack. I will take Cameron Norrie to raise his first title in 2022.
Prediction: Norrie 6-4 6-7, 6-3
