ATP Dallas Quarterfinal Predictions Including Taylor Fritz vs Marcos Giron

Reilly Opelka in action ahead of the ATP Dallas Open.

The quarterfinals at the ATP Dallas Open are set, with six of the seeds still alive including all of the top five. Five Americans are also still left in the tournament looking to raise a trophy on their home soil. The quality of tennis in Dallas has been high and that should ramp up on quarterfinal Friday. We here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for all four quarterfinals. But who will reach the

ATP Dallas Quarterfinal Predictions

Jenson Brooksby vs Jordan Thompson

Head-to-head: Brooksby 1-0 Thompson

Jenson Brooksby and Jordan Thompson both enter this quarterfinal matchup coming off of hard fought second round wins. Brooksby picked up his first tour-level victory of the season with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Andreas Seppi. Thompson topped Brandon Nakashima in a 7-5, 7-6 battle. These two have met one previous time with the American winning in straight sets. Both players came into this week in good form and are riding that high. Neither the American nor the Aussie give their opponents much in the way of unforced errors. Expect a long three-setter between the two. Thompson will try and capitalize off of the weaker Brooksby second serve, but the American should have the edge.

Taylor Fritz vs Marcos Giron

Head-to-head: Fritz 1-0 Giron

Tournament top seed Taylor Fritz spent just 1 hour and 7 minutes on court in his 6-4, 6-1 thrashing of Jack Sock. Giron, on the other hand, had a tough three-set win over Liam Broady. These two have met just one time coming at the 2021 Miami Open with Fritz picking Giron apart 6-2, 6-2. I expect a result similar to that win. Current number one ranked American Taylor Fritz has started the season in magnificent form having already picked up wins against the likes of Cameron Norrie, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Francis Tiafoe, and Roberto Bautista Agut. Sitting at a career high ranking of 19, a career year is on the horizon for the 24-year-old American.

Vasek Pospisil vs John Isner

Head-to-head: Isner 4-2 Pospisil

Vasek Pospisil has won his last nine matches in all competitions. His form to start 2022 is a good sight for all tennis fans after the veteran Canadian struggled during the 2021 season. His opponent, 36-year-old John Isner, is looking for his 17th career title in what is becoming a very winnable tournament. Both players are coming off of gruelling three-set matches. Pospisil spent 2 hours and 46 minutes on court. Isner, 2 hours 30 minutes. These two have met six times, but not since 2017. Isner, who hit 30 aces in his previous match, will be very tough to beat if he makes more than 70%. Pospisil will certainly put up a fight, but expect Isner to have too much for the Canadian.

Adrian Mannarino vs Reilly Opelka

Head-to-head: Opelka 1-0 Mannarino

Adrian Mannarino and Reilly Opelka will meet for the second time during this quarterfinal night cap at the Dallas Open. Both won their second round matches in straight sets. The Frenchman is playing some high quality tennis having won seven of his last nine matches. The American has won five of his last seven matches. Opelka, who has a 11-9 tour-level record against lefties, should be well prepared to face Mannarino after playing two lefties in the Australian Open. Opelka certainly did not play his best tennis in his 7-6, 7-6 win over Stebe, but it was important for him to face and overcome some adversity. I think he uses that momentum to serve his way past Mannarino in three hard fought sets.

Prediction: Opelka in 3
