Just four men are still in the hunt at the ATP Finals in Turin ahead of semifinals day. All will no doubt be determined to book their place in the showpiece final. But will  it be world #1 Novak Djokovic or Alexander Zverev who emerges victorious?

ATP Finals Semifinal Prediction

Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev

Head-to-head: Djokovic 8-3 Zverev

The previous meetings have favoured the Serbian player, as they do when Djokovic is compared to practically anyone. In fact, the fact that Zverev does have those three wins means that he does at least have that winning experience. Three of the meetings have actually been at the world tour finals. Zverev will have fond memories of 2018 where the German avenged a robin robin group defeat to lift the trophy in the final.

In terms of more recent form, both men are serving exceptionally well in the quick court conditions. It would certainly be no surprise to see at least one tiebreak in this match. It is in the tiebreaks, or major points, that Djokovic often has the advantage in his matches. This is what I expect again here.

Expect Djokovic to come out on top again in enough of the key moments to win the match. He will really want that ATP Finals record win as one of the few records he doesn’t own just yet. Of course, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Zverev raise his game and come through- he has certainly challenged Djokovic in the past – but the more likely scenario is the Serbian winning through.

Prediction: Djokovic in 3
