The ATP World Tour completes its stint in Russia with the ATP St. Petersburg Open tournament, Sebastian Korda stars on day 1 as we have predictions for all the main draw matches.
Jan-Lennard Struff vs James Duckworth
Struff is 2-3 since the US Open, The German continues to be competitive but not elite on the ATP Tour, Duckworth is at a career high ranking, he reached the final in Astana and the quarters in Sofia, this is the best season the Australian has ever put together, and although both players are a similar level, Duckworth’s form is slightly more impressive in recent weeks and he should be able to grind out a win. Nino Serdarusic vs Sebastian Korda
Sebastian Korda has just one win since the US Open, the American has put together a great season but his best results and tennis came over the spring and summer rather recently. Croatia’s Serdarusic reached a couple of ATP Challenger Tour finals in August but has an extremely limited ATP Tour level record. If Korda starts his tournament playing poorly, Serdarusic is probably good enough to capitalize, but he’s certainly not the favorite. Korda in 2
Alexander Bublik vs Evgenii Tiurnev
After reaching the semis in Astana, Bublik looked way out of form in Moscow. His opponent, the 24 year old Tiurnev has never been on the ATP Tour and has struggled somewhat even on the Challenger Tour. Anything is possible, but Bublik will be a strong favorite to get an opening match win. Bublik in 2
