WTA Montreal Day 3 Predictions Including Simona Halep vs Danielle Collins

It’s a busy day 3 at the National Bank Open, WTA Montreal, we have all of your predictions for the day including for matches featuring Coco Gauff, and Elina Svitolina. Here’s your look at four of the matches on the day from this key hard court event in advance of the US Open.

Ludmilla Samsonova vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

Sorribes Tormo won their only meeting earlier this season, Samsonova won Berlin and had a nice run at Wimbledon, a three set opening round win got the Russian off to a good start, Sorribes Tormo won her opening match in straight sets and has put together a solid season. This should be a quality matchup, with Sorribes Tormo playing slightly better. Sorribes Tormo in 2

Aryna Sabalenka vs Sloane Stephens

Sabalenka won their only meeting, with three titles and a Wimbledon semifinal she’s been fantastic this season, although an early exit in Tokyo was a disappointment. Stephens has been patchy, although improving compared to last season. Stephens could conjure up some of her best form, but Sabalenka will be favored and looking to return to form. Sabalenka in 2

Nadia Podoroska vs Camila Giorgi

Podoroska is 2-0 against Giorgi, both players won in straight sets in round 1, Podoroska has been inconsistent this season, Giorgi reached the quarterfinals in Tokyo and semifinals in Eastbourne. Podoroska may be the favorite on paper, but Giorgi’s form looks more impressive and I’ll back the Italian in an upset. Giorgi in 3

Simona Halep vs Danielle Collins

Halep won their only meeting, this is Halep’s first match back on tour since suffering a calf injury earlier in the season that caused her to miss both the French Open and Wimbledon. Halep has been limited this season but remains one of the best WTA players, facing Collins is a tall task though. The American won San Jose and Palermo, before that she reached the semis in Budapest and just secured a three set win in the opening round. Collins could be exhausted, but a 14-1 run on the WTA Tour in recent weeks is one of the most impressive runs you will see this season. With Halep a total wild card in terms of form and fitness, Collins should be favored. Collins in 3
