Casper Ruud looks to make it 10 wins in a row when he takes on Arthur Rinderknech in the ATP Kitzbuhel semifinals, the other semifinal features Pedro Martinez vs Daniel Altmaier as both players seek to make their first ever ATP final.
Casper Ruud vs Arthur Rinderknech
Ruud has won nine matches in a row, has three ATP titles since May, and seeking a third straight ATP title with his winning streak dating back to Bastad now. Both of his Kitzbuhel wins have taken three sets as Mikael Ymer and Mario Vilella Martinez put up solid efforts against the Norwegian. Rinderknech’s quarterfinal showings in Bastad and Gstaad have gone one match better after he dispatched Holger Rune with ease in the last round. Rinderknech can challenge Ruud and this is a great matchup, Ruud should be running on fumes a bit at this point, but he’s simply playing too well on clay right now to pick against him. Ruud in 3
Daniel Altmaier vs Pedro Martinez
After upsetting countryman Roberto Bautista Agut, Pedro Martinez made quick work of Jozef Kovalik in the quarterfinals to setup the oppportunity to make a maiden ATP final. Like the Spaniard, Germany’s Altmaier is rising quickly, a three set win over Gianluca Mager, after beating Marco Cecchinato in the previous round, puts him in a second straight semifinal on the ATP Tour. Fatigue may be a factor, but his impressive play back to back on clay cannot be ignored, with that said the fresher Martinez, coming off an impressive quarterfinal victory, likely has the upper hand.
