ATP Mallorca Championships Quarterfinal Predictions Including Daniil Medvedev vs Casper Ruud

Feliciano Lopez in action at the ATP Mallorca Championships.

Quarterfinals’ day on the grass courts in Mallorca features eight men looking to find a place in the semifinals at the ATP Mallorca Championships. Four of the seeded players are still standing and every player will surely be eyeing up the trophy. But who will advance to the last four?

ATP Mallorca Championships Quarterfinal Predictions

Pablo Carreno Busta vs Jordan Thompson

Head-to-head: Carreno Busta 1-0 Thompson

The Spaniard didn’t disappoint in the second round at the ATP Mallorca Championships as he eased past Jiri Vesely with an expected scoreline. Despite some competitive experience and a big serve and forehand combination, the Australian might find himself on rough seas when he faces the world #12. His game is still not up to the mark, so this is probably too soon for an upset. Pablo Carreno Busta should have a routine day in office.

Sam Querrey vs Roberto Bautista Agut

Head-to-head: Bautista Agut 3-1 Querrey

Both players feel at home on grass. Roberto Bautista Agut played to his potential and reputation on the surface as he swept past the Italian Stefano Travaglia. That shouldn’t change in his next match. Sam Querrey toiled in the first round before getting a walkover in the second round. Although he is very comfortable on grass, his recent form dampens his prospects more than anything else. He might still have the game to trouble Bautista Agut, but not enough to pull off the upset. The match could go either way, but the world #10, who has an exceptional win-loss record on grass, might have the last laugh.

Daniil Medvedev vs Casper Ruud

Head-to-head: Medvedev 1-0 Ruud

If this matchup is not thriller material, what is? Casper Ruud’s game is stepping up with every passing year; Stats testify that. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev has justified his #2 ranking in breaking his Roland Garros duck and taking that form into the grass season. The dangerous Corentin Moutet played very well in their second round match, but the Russian was better. No result would surprise more than the Russian’s exit at this stage of the ATP Mallorca Championships. Medvedev has all the shots in his repertoire, and he might just be able to wrap it up in straight but tight sets.

Feliciano Lopez vs Adrian Mannarino

Head-to-head: Lopez 3-1 Mannarino

The Spanish veteran may not quite still be the force he was in 2015, but he can certainly still play on the grass despite being the oldest man in the draw at 39. He is coming into this match off his 500th ATP tour level win. For someone from Spain, he has an unusual proclivity for grass, with a much better record on the green surface than on clay or hard. Although the former-world #12 has been a bit slower on his feet lately, his massive serve and sublime game should prove to be too good for Adrian Mannarino. Feliciano Lopez should cruise.

Prediction: Lopez in 2
