We move on to Day 3 at the ATP Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco on Wednesday. After two days of great first-round matches, we get the entire Round of 16 on Day 3. We predict all eight matches for you: including Stefanos Tsitsipas vs John Isner. Who will win? We share our thoughts.
ATP Acapulco Day 3 Predictions
Laslo Djere vs Alexander Zverev
Zverev was incredibly impressive on the court, blasting Spanish phenom Carlos Alcaraz off the court 6-3 6-1. Djere won his opening match by an equally impressive margin, but he did it against much weaker competition. It’s hard to think of anything but a strong Zverev win here.
Prediction: Zverev in 2
Lorenzo Musetti vs Frances Tiafoe
Musetti is coming off a huge upset of Diego Schwartzman and is playing really well right now. Meanwhile, Tiafoe barely squeaked by Brandon Nakashima, a former NCAA standout who is still adjusting to top-level play. It’s hard to pick against Musetti here, but the post-upset slump is a real thing. Tiafoe will get an excited and overzealous opponent, and that can lead to a win for a more experienced player.
Prediction: Tiafoe in 3
Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Sebastian Korda
Korda is playing the best tennis of his life, and he just worked his way through an out-of-sorts Marin Cilic in straight sets. Felix Auger-Aliassime is a generational talent, though, and just plays at a level far higher than Korda does right now. Expect the Canadian to move on.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 2
Dominik Koepfer vs Milos Raonic
Raonic met a spirited resistance from Tommy Paul in the opening round but ended up winning without being in any real danger at any point. Koepfer, meanwhile, easily blasted through overpowered wild card Gerardo Lopez Villasenor in his opening match. The Canadian should be solid enough and have the baseline game to win this, but an upset wouldn’t shock here either.
Prediction: Raonic in 3
