St. Petersburg Open Best Matches On Wednesday

Wednesday in the St. Petersburg Open will bring a lot of exciting matches among great players. We will get to see some familiar faces after their participation at the French Open, like Daniil Medvedev and Denis Shapovalov. It will be interesting how some players will look after their break and change of courts. Here are the best matches for this Wednesday.

Daniil Medvedev vs Richard Gasquet

This will be the second time that these two meet as the French player won their only match back in 2018 in two comfortable straight sets. No doubt this time it will be different as the Russian is playing way better than he was before. Additionally, he is playing in a home tournament so he will have the support of the people to help him on during the match. Medvedev is an interesting player to watch and will be the one dictating every point. It will be a great match as the French player will try to produce a major upset in knocking out the number one seed early on in the tournament. No question Medvedev is the heavy favorite in this match and will be the one dictating every point.

Stan Wawrinka vs Evgeny Donskoy

This will be the first time that these two will play against each other. Wawrinka defeated Dan Evans in the previous round in three close sets. He will try and continue his winning ways against the Russian. Donskoy may not be a household name in the tennis world, but he will try to create a major upset in eliminating Stan early on in the tournament. The Russian has nothing to lose and a lot to gain. He will have the support of the crowd and we will see if he can handle Wawrinka’s style of play. No doubt it will be a very great match and it will push Wawrinka to produce some great tennis.

Viktor Troicki vs Denis Shapovalov

This will be the third time that these two will meet with each having a win against each other. Last time they met the young Canadian won the match in three tight sets at the 2018 Miami Open. The Serbian came to this tournament through the qualifying stages so he has more game time in him. We will see if that favors him in a tough match against Shapovalov, who is playing some incredible tennis. Shapovalov is now ranked the number 12 player in the world and is producing some high quality tennis. No question this will be a great match and much different than the previous amongst them.

Pavel Kotov vs Ugo Humbert

This will be the first time that these two will meet amongst each other. The Russian will have the support of the crowd and will look for that to help him out against the young French player. Humbert played well at the Hamburg open but he didn’t transition it to the French Open as he was knocked out in the first round. Kotov reached this stage coming through the qualifying stages so he has some rhythm coming into this match. Both players are very young but the French player is the favorite one in this battle. The match will be a great one and it will have some great tennis.

Interesting Matches

Altogether, Wednesday will have some notable matches and they will not disappoint. The top two seeds will be in action and we will see how they play after a short break. Don’t be surprised if there are some upsets as every player wants to win and make a name for themselves. Expect some thrilling tennis all the way from Russia.
