WTA Strasbourg Final Prediction

Elena Ryakina vs Elina Svitolina

Head to Head: never played

Elena Rybakina has played an excellent tournament. In the four matches she’s played, she has not dropped a set. Showcasing great depth and pace on her groundstrokes, she has been able to control the baseline in her matches and put a lot of pressure on her opponents. Rybakina’s first serve is also at a very high level. In her semifinal win against Nao Hibino, she won 78% of her first serve points and was not broken in her comfortable straight sets victory.

Elina Svitolina has also had a great week in Strasbourg. Taking Jil Teichmann and Aryna Sabalenka in consecutive matches is not an easy feat. She had to fight hard to beat Sabalenka, who took her to three sets before eventually prevailing 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Svitolina’s consistency and depth from the baseline, along with her counterpunching ability are top-notch.

These two have never played and given the level that both have shown this week, this match is incredibly hard to predict. Rybakina can hit with pace and depth, just like Sabalenka, but she has more control (at this point) than Sabalenka has. Given how close Sabalenka was to beating Svitolina and given that Svitolina has been just a little bit more inconsistent than usual following the hiatus, I give the slightest of slight edges to Rybakina in this one.

Elena Rybakina will be the WTA Strasbourg singles champion!
Prediction: Rybakina in 3
