The Rome Masters final is upon us, Novak Djokovic, seeking an ATP record 36 Masters titles (including a 5th in Rome alone), takes on Diego Schwartzman, a first time Masters finalist. Here is your preview of the finals match.
Novak Djokovic vs Diego Schwartzman
While Djokovic had a relatively routine win against Casper Ruud in the semifinals, Schwartzman had a three set war with Denis Shapovalov, escaping in a third set tiebreak. Djokovic has also never lost to Schwartzman (4-0), though Schwartzman has kept the matches closer on clay than hard including a three setter in last year’s stop in Rome. Lots of neutrals will be rooting for Schwartzman here, but the reality is he’s a massive underdog, and Djokovic is unlikely to be stopped before the late rounds of Roland Garros at the soonest.
