WTA Cincinnati Day 3 Predictions Including Naomi Osaka vs Karolina Muchova

WTA Elite Trophy Karolina Muchova

Monday is Day 3 of the WTA Cincinnati Western & Southern Open, which of course isn’t being played in Cincinnati. COVID-19 has moved the tournament to Flushing Meadows in New York City, the same site as the US Open. As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for all 14 matches including Madison Keys vs Ons Jabeur, Petra Kvitova vs Marie Bouzkova and Serena Williams vs Arantxa Rus. Let’s look forward to all of Monday’s matches, and give you our thoughts on who will win.

WTA Cincinnati Day 3 Predictions

Amanda Anisimova vs Jessica Pegula

Anisimova hasn’t been able to stay healthy or consistent since last year’s run at the French Open. Whether it was family tragedy or injury, her rise has been slowed since then. She looked very solid in her first match here, though, which tells us that he form is ready to challenge the top of the game again. Pegula is a solid player who can beat just about anyone when they’re not consistent, but I’m going to stick with the teenager in this one.

Anett Kontaveit vs Jil Teichmann

Teichmann has been in good form recently, but she’s got nothing on Kontaveit right now. Teichmann has played a ton of tennis recently, winning the title in Lexington last week, then going through qualifiers just to get into the main draw in “Cincinnati.” The Estonian looks to have no rust at all and be in good form, so expect her to end Teichmann’s win streak here.

Naomi Osaka vs Karolina Muchova

Muchova is definitely a potential future star, and her rapid rise through the rankings over the second half of last year was something to behold. She was a virtual unknown before the 2018 US Open; in fact, she had never won a Tour-level match. Now, though, she is a mainstay on the tour and a potential threat in every match. Osaka, meanwhile, hasn’t played any competitive tennis since February and hasn’t won a match since the second round of the Australian Open. The Japanese star has had plenty of time to recover from last year’s injuries. Still, coming into a match against a player like Muchova with rust in the game won’t be fun.
Prediction: Muchova in 3
