WTA Doha Day 3 Predictions Including Dayana Yastremska vs Sofia Kenin

Day 3 at the WTA Qatar Total Open in Doha looks like an incredible day of tennis. There are 13 matches on tap Tuesday, and we’re predicting all of them for you. The first eight are in two other articles–one features Anett Kontaveit vs Aryna Sabalenka, while the other headlines Ashleigh Barty vs Laura Siegemund. Who will move on? Let’s look at the matches.

WTA Doha Day 3 Predictions

Garbine Muguruza vs Ajla Tomljanovic

Muguruza is off to a strong start in 2020. She’s certainly playing much better than she did for most of last year. Tomljanovic pulled off an upset of Marketa Vondrousova earlier this month in St. Petersburg, but Vondrousova isn’t at her top level right now anyway. Muguruza should move on.
Prediction: Muguruza in 2

Alison van Uytvanck vs Elena Rybakina

These players are both in good form, but Rybakina is one of the hottest players on tour right now. The only question about her is how much she has left in the tank, as she is playing in her third consecutive week–and reached the final in the last two. She showed a bit of fatigue against Sorana Cirstea, but it would still be foolish to pick against her.
Prediction: Rybakina in 3

Barbora Strycova vs Jelena Ostapenko

I hate predicting Ostapenko matches. In a way, they’re far simpler than they’re complicated. If Ostapenko hits the ball cleanly and keeps it in the court, she beats almost anybody. If she’s off her game a little bit, she loses. I like to usually pick the player who has the match on her racket, but it’s never a guarantee.
Prediction: Ostapenko in 3

Karolina Pliskova vs Bernarda Pera

Pera is a solid enough player, but Pliskova is an elite player who hits the ball hard and clean. Expect a smooth victory for the World No. 3 in this one.
Prediction: Pliskova in 2

Dayana Yastremska vs Sofia Kenin

Kenin didn’t come back from her Australian Open title so strong last week, but she’s still a top player. This is a tough challenge against another rising star, but Kenin is the better player in this matchup–if only by a hair.
Prediction: Kenin in 3
