WTA St. Petersburg Quarterfinal Predictions Including Petra Kvitova vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

Petra Kvitova

We arrive at the quarterfinal stage of what has been an excellent WTA St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy so far. This tournament has seen upsets, intrigue, and great tennis. Some of the best players in the world will battle it out on Friday to advance to the semifinals. Who will move on? Here are our thoughts on the matches including Petra Kvitova vs Ekaterina Alexandrova.

WTA St. Petersburg Quarterfinal Predictions

Oceane Dodin vs Elena Rykabina

Dodin was once a potential rising star, but it’s been years since then and it hasn’t yet really panned out for her. She certainly has talent, but she hasn’t put it all together yet. Rybakina has, and she continues her march to the top of the game. Rybakina moves on.

Belinda Bencic vs Maria Sakkari

These are two of the most talented players in the world, though neither is quite consistent enough to be elite right now. Sakkari doesn’t have the same over-the-top power that Bencic does, but she can force anyone to play ball after ball, and is an excellent counterpuncher. That should win this matchup unless Bencic is at her absolute best for over two hours, which the Swiss player can’t quite do at the moment.
Prediction: Sakkari in 3

Anastasia Potapova vs Kiki Bertens

Potapova did a great job to make it through qualifying and reach the quarters, but the difficulty level gets significantly tougher here. Bertens is a top player in search of an important title here, and Potapova won’t be enough to stop her.
Prediction: Bertens in 2

Petra Kvitova vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

The final match of the night should be a good one. Kvitova is one of the best players in the world right now and playing like it. However, Alexandrova will have the home crowd behind her and has won 16 out of her last 17 matches, dating back to December. Unfortunately, that one loss was a brutally quick defeat against Kvitova at the Australian Open. Kvitova is more talented and playing well. It’s hard to overcome that, and it’s hard to see why this result would be different than last time.
Prediction: Kvitova in 2
