Australian Open Day 3 Predictions Including Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Philipp Kohlschreiber

Stefanos Tsitsipas faces veteran German Philipp Kohlschreiber in a battle of talented shotmakers at the 2020 Australian Open round 2. Veterans Grigor Dimitrov and Roberto Bautista Agut face American opposition on day 3. Yesh Ginsburg and Steen Kirby offer their predictions.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Philipp Kohlschreiber

Yesh: Each of these players dominated their first-round match, but Tsitsipas looked more impressive. Kohlschreiber has talent, but he’s in slight decline and Tsitsipas is a rising star. Tsitsipas in 3

Steen: Kohli has reached the second week in Melbourne 4 times and is riding a six match winning streak. He has enough game to trouble Tsitsipas but the young Greek oozes talent and should tough his way to a win here. Tsitsipas in 4

Matteo Berrettini vs Tennys Sandgren

Yesh: Berrettini is in good form right now. He dipped a bit at the end of last year, but he’s talented and motivated in Melbourne for now. Berrettini in 3

Steen: Sandgren has talent but he’s inconsistent. Berrettini is the more reliable pick here and should perform well enough to secure the win. Berrettini in 3

Tommy Paul vs Grigor Dimitrov

Yesh: Tommy Paul is playing well, but he can’t deal with Dimitrov at his best. Is Dimitrov at his best right now? I’m not sure, but he looked pretty good in the final three sets of his opening round. Dimitrov in 4

Steen: Paul’s form is excellent and he can’t be counted out here against the more accomplished Dimitrov. Dimitrov is the favorite over best of 5 though and should survive this upset alert. Dimitrov in 5

Roberto Bautista Agut vs Michael Mmoh

Yesh: Roberto Bautista-Agut looks in very strong form right now and does well on these courts. He won’t have any trouble in this match. Bautista-Agut in 3

Steen: Mmoh has a future but RBA is peaking early in the season and looks like a potential top 5 player. With Bautista Agut at his best Mmoh has little chance to grab an upset win. Bautista Agut in 3
