WTA Elite Trophy Day 4 Predictions Including Aryna Sabalenka vs Elise Mertens

WTA Strasbourg Quarterfinals Predictions

Day 4 at the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai should be intriguing as we wrap up group play. Every match on day 4 has implications on who makes it into the semifinals. Find out who we think continues their season in Zhuhai.

WTA Elite Trophy Day 4 Predictions

Sofia Kenin vs Karolina Muchova

H2H- First Meeting
Karolina Muchova was able to fight back from a set down today to defeat American Alison Riske. Now she’ll face Sofia Kenin in a match that has stakes to it. The winner will advance past the group stage into the semifinals. Muchova is playing some of the best tennis of her career, but it’s just hard to pick against Sofia Kenin. If she hasn’t already, I expect Sofia Kenin to become a household name next year. Expect more of what we’ve seen from Kenin recently here.
Prediction: Kenin in 2

Petra Martic vs Zheng Saisai

H2H- First Meeting
Petra Martic wasn’t able to get anything going in her first match, falling to American Madison Keys in straight sets. Now, Keys will rely on Martic to defeat Zheng here as she still has an outside shot of advancing to the semifinals. Zheng played well in her first match defeating Madison Keys, but Keys had trouble keeping the ball in the court. I think Martic is in a good bounce-back spot here against Zheng. Look for her to play better and pick up her first win in Zhuhai.
Prediction: Martic in 3

Aryna Sabalenka vs Elise Mertens

H2H- Mertens leads 2-1
Fridays match between Aryna Sabalenka and Elise Mertens will determine who makes it out of the Rose Group and into the semifinals. Both Sabalenka and Mertens defeated Maria Sakkari in their previous match. Sabalenka is right up there with Sofia Kenin as the most in-form player right now. Mertens does have the edge in their previous meetings, but Sabalenka is a different player when she’s playing with confidence. Look for this to be more of what we’ve seen recently from Sabalenka, I think she wins convincingly.
Prediction: Sabalenka in 2
