WTA Tashkent Open Semifinal Predictions Including Alison Van Uytvanck vs Kristyna Pliskova

WTA Hiroshima Open Alison van Uytvank

The WTA Tashkent Open semifinals will take place on Friday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. We’ve seen a strong week of tennis, with a few surprises but most of the best players moving on. That means we should see some strong quarterfinal matches. Who will win and move on to Saturday’s final? I can never tell you for sure, but I can give my thoughts on both matches. They should be good ones.

WTA Tashkent Open Semifinal Predictions

Katarina Zavatska vs Sorana Cirstea

Cirstea really struggled in her quarterfinal match, which surprised me a bit. She got through the third set without trouble, but I really didn’t think that Kovinic would make it that close.

Zavatska, meanwhile, utterly obliterated rising 20-year-old Anna Kalinskaya. Kalinskaya was clearly far from her absolutely best in that match, but the way Zavatska took advantage was really impressive. Couple that with Cirstea’s solid but not overwhelming performance this week, and I’m thinking that the Ukrainian is about to reach her first Tour-level final.
Prediction: Zavatska in 3

Alison Van Uytvanck vs Kristyna Pliskova

Both of these players have been really strong this week. Looking at both of Friday’s matches, it definitely feels like this match is far more worthy of being the final than one of the semis.

Who’s in the better position in this one? Both are playing well, but Van Uytvanck has clearly been better player this week. She has struggled less, and so often has been entirely unbeatable. Still, the way that Pliskova took out top seed Viktoria Kuzmova was impressive as well. Anything can happen in this match, but I think I have to side with the player that is playing so much more cleanly. Pliskova did win the pair’s only meeting, but seeing as that was an ITF event almost eight years ago I think I’m okay entirely ignoring that.
Prediction: Van Uytvanck in 2
