Seb Korda, Hyeon Chung, and Kamil Majchrzak Players to watch at US Open Qualifying

The 2019 US Open Men’s (and Women’s) qualifying got underway on Monday in New York. It’s an opportunity for rising players to stake their claim of a Grand Slam main draw berth, while many veterans and fringe ATP players are eager to secure match wins that will ensure they can afford to continue to play on tour even if they aren’t likely to make deep runs in the main draw of the tournament. US Open qualifying, which takes place at the BJK National Tennis center and is free for the public, is some of the most intense series of matches on the tour calendar this year, and anyone who has a chance to check out the action should do so.

Three young players with something to prove in the men’s qualifying this year are Sebastian “Seb” Korda, Hyeon Chung, and Kamil Majchrzak. Majchrzak looks like the next great Polish ATP talent, he’s at a career high ranking of 94 and has been very good at the challenger level this year, along with taking part in the main draw for the Australian Open and Wimbledon. If he can make the main draw, depending on the opponent he has enough talent to make an impact.

Korda, a former top junior and the son of Petr Korda made his ATP debut last year, and already has found some success at the challenger level. If he can win in qualifying he’ll make his Grand Slam main draw debut in New York, he’s a player I expect to hear more from in coming years.

Hyeon Chung already has a great pedigree. the 23-year-old South Korean reached the semifinals in Melbourne at the Australian Open and was a former top 20 player. Chung has struggled to stay fit and healthy, last year he was seeded for the US Open tournament and won a match, now he’ll have to get through tough qualifying matches just to return to the main draw. If Chung can return to the heights of his career he’s certainly capable of making a deep run.

There are plenty of other players in the men’s and women’s qualifying draw worth following, if you fancy taking a chance on some of these players consider tennis betting online throughout qualifying and the main draw of the US Open, which starts August 26th and runs for two weeks.
