Los Cabos Quarterfinal Predictions Including Fabio Fognini vs Taylor Fritz

ATP Italian Open Day 2 Predictions

The quarterfinals in Los Cabos feature a nice mix of star players and players on the rise. All four are must-see, including the last match on Centre Court featuring Fabio Fognini and Taylor Fritz.

Los Cabos Quarterfinal Predictions

Diego Schwartzman vs Mikhail Kukushkin

H2H- Schwartzman leads 1-0
Diego Schwartzman looked good in his second-round win over Ernests Gulbis. Schwartzman was a little rusty early in the first set, but once he broke Gulbis at 5-5 in the first, he didn’t lose another game all match. Kukushkin got past what looked to be a tired Cameron Norrie who had a quick turnaround in Los Cabos after a deep run in Atlanta. I can’t see Kukushkin giving Schwartzman any problems here.
Prediction: Schwartzman in 2

Soon-woo Kwon vs Guido Pella

H2H- First Meeting
Qualifier Soon-Woo Kwon has had a ton of success on the Challenger tour in 2019, but now it looks like the 21-year-old is in the midst of his first deep run at the tour level. Judging by his early-season results, Kwon is very comfortable on hard courts. Guido Pella easily got past Grigor Dimitrov, but I think he’ll have a tougher time against the rising star from Korea.
Prediction: Kwon in 3

Thanasi Kokkinakis vs Radu Albot

H2H- First Meeting
It’s a shame that Thanasi Kokkinakis hasn’t been able to stay healthy throughout his career when the Australian is playing his best, he’s one of the most talented players on tour. Kokkinakis came back from a set down to defeat Lucas Pouille, but you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank. Radu Albot is not someone you want to be playing if you’re low on energy. The Moldovan will make Kokkinakis play, and I feel like it’s a nightmare opponent for Kokkinakis. This one should be close, but I’m leaning Albot here.
Prediction: Albot in 3

Fabio Fognini vs Taylor Fritz

H2H- Fognini leads 1-0
It was kind of surprising to see Fabio Fognini fight back from a set down last night to defeat Marcel Granollers. Fognini was playing on clay in Hamburg last week, so you had to wonder how motivated the Italian would be this week. He’s up against Taylor Fritz who has to be tired himself after reaching the finals in Atlanta last week. Fritz didn’t look great in his round of 16 win over Gunneswaren; I don’t think he can defeat Fognini playing at that level.
Prediction: Fognini in 3
