Los Cabos Day 2 Predictions Including Steve Johnson vs Grigor Dimitrov

Day 2 at the Los Cabos Open should be great with Atlanta finalist Taylor Fritz in action, as well as Steve Johnson taking on Grigor Dimitrov.

Los Cabos Day 2 Predictions

Christian Garin vs Juan Ignacio Londero

H2H- First Meeting

Even though the official H2H says these two are playing for the first time, they aren’t strangers to each other. They’ve met six times on the Challenger tour, and once in Wimbledon qualifying, with Garin leading the H2H 5-2. Garin had a great clay-court swing, but we’ll see if he can replicate the same success on hard courts. Clay suits his game way more, but he should be able to get past Londero to start his hardcourt campaign.
Prediction: Garin in 3

Taylor Fritz vs Dominik Koepfer

H2H- First Meeting
It’s a little surprising to see Taylor Fritz play Los Cabos instead of Washington, D.C. where you’d expect him to be this week. Fritz is coming off a finals appearance in Atlanta where he lost to Alex de Minaur but played great all week leading up to the final. If Fritz has the same level in Los Cabos as he did in Atlanta, he’s due for a big week.
Prediction: Fritz in 2

Janko Tipsarevic vs Radu Albot

H2H- First Meeting
This will be a tough matchup for 35-year-old Janko Tipsarevic, who hasn’t been able to recapture his form from 2012 where he finished the season ranked #9 in the world. He can still turn the clock every once in a while, and I think he might do so this week. Tipsarevic played well at Wimbledon and actually handled best of five well. Albot has done well on hard courts this year, winning the title in Delray Beach, but I think Tipsarevic pulls off the upset here.
Prediction: Tipsarevic in 3

Grigor Dimitrov vs Steve Johnson

H2H- Dimitrov leads 4-2
It’s tough to say which of these needs the win more. Johnson is coming in struggling after losing to wild card Chris Eubanks in Newport, while Dimitrov lost to qualifier Kevin King in Atlanta to record his first career ATP tour main draw win. I don’t expect it to be the prettiest match with their bad form, but I’d give a slight edge to Dimitrov, who’s long overdue for a win.
Prediction: Dimitrov in 3
