ATP Swedish Open Final Prediction: Nicolas Jarry vs Juan Ignacio Londero

Nicolas Jarry Swedish Open

There will be a new champion at the 2019 Swedish Open in Bastad as Chile’s Nicolas Jarry faces the Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero in the final. Will the towering Chilean etch his name onto an ATP title for the first time on Sunday at the third attempt or will the man from Cordoba triumph for the second time this year?

ATP Swedish Open Final Prediction

Nicolas Jarry vs Juan Ignacio Londero

Head-to-head: Jarry 0-1 Londero

Jarry produced another terrific straight-sets win in the semifinals, beating Federico Delbonis 6-3 6-2 in just over an hour. Jarry saved three of four break points as he dominated the contest and he looks to be in excellent form heading into the final. The 25-year-old advanced to his third ATP tour final of his career and will attempt once again to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather Jaime Fillol Sr, a seven-time tour-level champion. The fifth seed lost his previous two ATP finals, squandering two championship points in the earlier this year in Geneva against Alexander Zverev.

Londero has been one of the ATP’s breakout stars of 2019. The 25-year-old Argentine had not won a tour-level match before this year, but put together a stunning run in his hometown in Cordoba earlier this year, where he not only won his first match, but also sensationally lifted his maiden ATP title. That success in February included victories over Jarry, Lorenzo Sonego, Pedro Cachin, and Federico Delbonis all in straight sets before he stunned Guido Pella in the final from a set and a break down. His outstanding week in Cordoba saw him reach a career-high ranking of world #69. He also steered himself to the fourth round of the French Open losing to eventual champion Rafael Nadal. Londero will now attempt to claim his second ATP tour title against a man he beat en route to the title in Cordoba.

Whilst Jarry has sailed to the finals without dropping a set, Londero was pushed to the limits in his second round match against Hugo Dellien and Richard Gasquet in the quarterfinals where he triumphed in nearly three hours. Expect Jarry’s proactive and ultra-aggressive hitting from the baseline, combined with his domineering serving, to give him the edge in this one.

Prediction: Jarry in 2
