Manic Monday is over for the women, but that just means the intensity is about to ramp up. Tuesday at Wimbledon is women’s quarterfinal day. And we are lucky, as it looks to be an incredible lineup. Who will move on to Thursday’s semifinals? We’re here to predict all four women’s quarterfinal matches for you. Presenting their thoughts on the women’s quarterfinal matchups are myself (Yesh Ginsburg), Jim Smith, and Eric Han.
Wimbledon Women’s Quarterfinal Predictions
Simona Halep vs Shuai Zhang
Eric:
Halep was impressive beating Gauff comfortably in straight sets considering grass is her weakest surface. Zhang could be a tough opponent, but this will be her first match on a big court. Can she hold her nerves?
Prediction: Halep in 3
Jim:
It’s been a great tournament from both women so far, particularly for Zhang who had never previously reached this stage at the All England Club. Halep, meanwhile, looks to be playing with renewed confidence after a shaky few months. Her ability to take the ball on the rise and spread the court off the forehand should give her the decisive edge in this one.
Prediction: Halep in 3
Yesh:
Halep ended the run of 15-year-old phenom Coco Gauff. She gets Shuai Zhang now, who is in her first Wimbledon quarterfinal. Halep has never loved the grass, but you wouldn’t know that from watching her here.
Prediction: Halep in 2
Elina Svitolina vs Karolina Muchova
Eric:
This is Svitolina’s best chance to make it to the semifinals of a Major. Muchova will be tired after a 13-11 third set win, and if Svitolina can calm her nerves, she should win.
Prediction: Svitolina in 2
Jim:
It was a great win for Muchova over her countrywoman Karolina Pliskova and the young Czech is just another example of why the future of the women’s game looks so bright. But after a 24-game deciding set, it is hard to see Muchova having much left in the tank against Svitolina. Expect a first Grand Slam semifinal for the Ukrainian.
Prediction: Svitolina in 2
Yesh:
Muchova came through an exhausting, grueling match against Karolina Pliskova. Svitolina, meanwhile, has found her form again at Wimbledon. I think that Muchova might actually be the better grass player right now, but the tank is just going to run out of fuel at some point.

Barbora Strycova vs Johanna Konta
Eric:
Konta was super impressive beating Kvitová in the last round. If she can play at a same level, she has a good chance of making the semifinals here once again. The British crowd on Centre Court will definitely be giving her positive energy and she will for sure use it to her advantage.
Prediction: Konta in 3
Jim:
After a couple of great comeback wins over Sloane Stephens and Petra Kvitova, British #1 Konta finds herself in with a real chance of returning to the Wimbledon semifinals. But up against Strycova she will need to play very well. Fortunately for the Briton, her serve and forehand have been working excellently and should give her just enough to edge out the Czech.
Prediction: Konta in 3
Yesh:
Konta dug deep to get by Petra Kvitova, who seemed to be physically ailing a bit as the match went on. Now she gets a very winnable matchup against Strycova. Expect the British fans to be out in full force to back their countrywoman for the win.

Serena Williams vs Alison Riske
Eric:
Serena will probably be breathing a sigh of relief as she won’t be facing the number one seed in the tournament. The seven-time champion looked impressive against Suarez Navarro, who is always a tricky opponent. On the other hand, the big question for Riske is that could she produce back-to-back upsets as so many players have fail to do in Grand Slams.
Prediction: Williams in 2
Jim:
Few fancied Riske’s chances against the in-form world #1 Ashleigh Barty, but the Pittsburgh native showed again what a skilled grass-courter she is. But she will be hard up against it again when she takes on the great Williams. The 23-time Grand Slam champion has so many weapons that she can be almost unplayable on her day.

Yesh:
Riske has been amazing on grass this year. She struggled in her second match against Ivana Jorovic, but other than that she’s been lights-out. She won Surbiton, then ‘s-Hertogenbosch, and she just took out Belinda Bencic and World #1 Ashleigh Barty at Wimbledon. Serena has been solid so far, but hasn’t really been challenged yet. She’s about to meet her first real grass challenge, and I think that Riske will come through it.
