ATP Estoril Open Semifinal Predictions Including David Goffin vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

ATP Estoril Finals Prediction

Semifinal Saturday at the Estoril Open will feature two great matches and plenty of storylines to go along with them. Wildcard David Goffin will face the #1 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, and qualifier Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will face lucky loser Pablo Cuevas for a spot in Sunday’s final. Who will move on to Sunday’s final? These are our ATP Estoril Open Semifinal Predictions.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Pablo Cuevas

H2H: First Meeting
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina continues to be the story of the 2019 Estoril Open. The Spaniard recorded the best win of his career in the quarterfinals, defeating Gael Monfils from a set down. Saturday’s semifinal will be the sixth match he’s played this week, so you’d expect fatigue to set in eventually.

Pablo Cuevas is also making an improbable run. It looked like his Estoril Open campaign would be over after losing in the final round of qualifying to Salvatore Caruso. The Uruguayan ended up getting a spot in the main draw after Filip Krajinovic withdrew. I think the veteran Cuevas has an edge here just based off of his experience alone, but Davidovich Fokina has shown a lot of toughness this week. Even if Davidovich Fokina were to lose on Saturday, his run will push him up about 40 spots in the rankings to around 120 in the world.
Prediction: Cuevas in 3

David Goffin vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

H2H: Tsitsipas leads 3-2
These two should know what to expect from each other, considering this will be their sixth meeting in just two years. David Goffin is making good use of his wild card, reaching the semifinals after defeating Malek Jaziri from a set down to win 46 76(4) 62. Tsitsipas had a hard time against qualifier Joao Domingues, but still found a way to win in straight sets.

David Goffin is playing much better tennis than what we’ve seen from him earlier this year, but will it be enough to get past Tsitsipas? The #1 seed Tsitsipas failed to defend all of his Barcelona points from 2018, losing in the Round of 16 last week. I think that might’ve been a wake-up call for the Greek star. Like most of their previous matches, this one should be close, but I believe Tsitsipas will move on to the final.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 3
