Successful sports gamblers have knack for anticipating a person or team’s performance before it actually happens. They pay attention to the little details that point the way to a certain outcome. When they identify the right opportunities, they have the gumption to step up and make a wager that significantly rewards them for being correct about their acute awareness of the circumstances.
There’s a general reluctance for experienced sports gamblers to focus on tennis as a viable betting opportunity. Forget about the issue of how to choose a betting site for tennis, the real challenge is finding betting opportunities where the potential reward justifies the risk. Let’s face it, it’s difficult to imagine a sports gambler making a living betting on matches that involve top players like Naomi Osaka, Simona Halep, Roger Federer, or Rafael Nadal. The value simply does not exist until they are playing other players in the top five. For most sports gamblers, their time is better spend handicapping other sports events that offer real value.
There is a very distinct exception to this notion. Every now and then, young players will start ascending the rankings on their way to becoming top five players themselves. If a gambler can identify such a player early on in the player’s career, the betting lines on matches that involve that player could offer tremendous value.
A case in point is America’s Amanda Anisimova. At the ripe old age of 17 years old, Anisimova is loaded with potential. She also has the pedigree to be a top player in women’s tennis, having already been ranked as one of the top junior players of her generation.
In 2016, at the age of 14 years old, Anisimova left the junior ranks to turn pro. As one would expect, her first two years on the WTA tour were a struggle as she learned to play the game of tennis at the highest level. In spite of her struggles, it was clear this was a player to reckon with in the future.
Entering the 2018 season, the lessons she was learning were clearly taking hold. She wasn’t winning tournaments, but she was winning early round matches with a big plus sign (+) in front of her betting lines. This is the time when astute sports gamblers would want to start following her progress.
By the end of 2018 season, she had done enough work to earn a ranking in top 100 at number 100. Moving into the 2019 season, everyone could see her game coming together. The level of players she has been beating on a regular basis is on noticeable upward trajectory. Everything finally culminated in Anisimova winning her first WTA event this past weekend at the at the Copa Colsanitas event in Bogota, Columbia. Yes, the win came with a + in front of her betting line.
Betting on individual sports like tennis and boxing requires discipline. Smart sports gamblers know the real value lies in betting on players on the rise or betting against players on the declines. If you see the opportunity, seize it.
