There are only eight players remaining in the Bogota draw. We’ll find out this weekend who will take home the Copa Colsanitas trophy. Will it be a youngster like Amanda Anisimova? Or will a comeback player like Sara Eranni win it all? Maybe someone else? It all starts with the quarterfinals on Friday.
WTA Bogota Quarterfinal Predictions
Maria Camilla Osorio Serrano vs Amanda Anisimova
What a week this has been for these two teenagers. Anisimova has silenced her critics about her abilities on clay. Meanwhile, the local wild card Osorio Serrano is making a name for herself this week. She won’t be a regular on the WTA Tour for a few years, probably, but she’s definitely getting people to notice her. She looks more comfortable on clay than the American, but Anisimova is more polished overall.
Prediction: Anisimova in 2
Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Sara Sorribes Tormo
Both of these players have looked good these week, and both are solid on clay. This is a good opportunity for each to reach a semifinal, and Sorribes Tormo looks more solid at this point. Each of these 22-year-olds has real potential, and this is one of our first chances to see just what they can do under pressure.
Prediction: Sorribes Tormo in 3
Tamara Zidansek vs Lara Arruabarrena
Zidansek dismissed American Sachia Vickery in absolutely dominant fashion. She took advantage of all of the American’s lack of experience on clay, and just demolished her in that match. Still, Arruabarrena is a whole other type of match. The Spaniard loves the clay, and she has a more polished overall game than Vickery. Don’t let the second-round scoreline fool you. Arruabarrena should win this match.
Prediction: Arruabarrena in 3
Sara Errani vs Astra Sharma
Sharma is having another great week in her breakout season. Unfortunately for her, she gets to meet a Sara Errani who is angry about her doping ban and who is quickly rounding back in to top form. There was no rust whatsoever in her demolition of Bibiane Schoofs, and don’t expect any while she does the same to Sharma.
Prediction: Errani in 2
