ATP Montpellier Quarterfinals Predictions – Including Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Jeremy Chardy

The business end of the Open Sud de France is fast approaching as we are now at the quarterfinal stage. Eight men remain, but only one can win the Montpellier title on Sunday.

ATP Montpellier Quarterfinals Predictions

Tomas Berdych vs Filip Krajinovic

Berdych is one of the most in-form players in the world right now as he looks to continue his comeback. The unseeded Czech was utterly imperious against Benoit Paire, reaching the last eight for the loss of just two games. Krajinovic has gone under the radar in this tournament as he stunned second seeded David Goffin in the second round. The pair have never met before but you have got to favour the 34-year-old given the level he is producing.
Prediction: Berdych in 2

Pierre-Hugues Herbert vs Denis Shapovalov

The popular home favourite has been playing at a consistently high level all week. His exploits here have seen him land his second quarterfinal appearance of the year–in just two tournaments. Shapovalov is one of the most exciting prospects on the ATP Tour as he continues his quest for a first career title. The two have met just once before: on the ATP Challenger Tour where the Canadian beat Herbert in three tight sets. It may be more comfortable for Shapovalov this time around.

Marcos Baghdatis vs Radu Albot

The surprise package quarterfinal match-up is this one and both players will see this as an absolutely massive opportunity to reach the last four. Baghdatis dumped the defending champion, Lucas Pouille, out in straight sets so the Cypriot is clearly in great form. Albot has enjoyed fine wins over Phillipp Kohlschreiber and Ernests Gulbis to reach this stage. Although they have never met on the main tour, they have played on the Challenger Tour where Baghdatis comfortably won five years ago. The Cypriot looks set to continue his perfect record over the Romanian.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Jeremy Chardy

Once again, Tsonga will feature in arguably the match of the day as he takes on Chardy. The former Australian Open finalist made light fork of the tricky Gilles Simon to book his ticket into the elite eight. Chardy has had a much simpler route to the quarterfinals, by beating a lucky loser and a qualifier. Nonetheless, a close match is in order. Tsonga has been victorious in all but one of his previous four meetings with Chardy and therefore you have got to predict another victory for the wildcard.
Prediction: Tsonga in 3
