ATP Montpellier Day 3 Predictions – Including Gilles Simon vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Day 3 Montpellier hosts an incredible lineup as the big stars are starting to open up their 2019 campaigns. All of the matches are almost certain to deliver the fans a treat.

ATP Montpellier Day 3 Predictions

Benoit Paire vs Tomas Berdych

The 29-year-old Frenchman will play on successive days after he produced a clinical performance to get past the dangerous Evgeny Donskoy. On the other hand, Berdych  looked shaky against the much lower ranked Matthias Bachinger. He got the win in the end and that will give him tremendous confidence going into the stern test that is Paire. These two have met on three occasions, each on a different surface, but they have all had the same result: a Czech victory. Berdych has had a very promising start to the season and he looks likely to keep the momentum going.
Prediction: Berdych in 3

Filip Krajinovic vs David Goffin

Krajinovic is having a consistent start to his 2019 season, winning three matches out of four. He knocked out home favourite Nicolas Mahut in round one and faces a tough task in round two. Goffin is a crowd favourite whether he goes, especially here being so close to Belgium. Although the 28-year-old has not had a singles match here yet, he did have a doubles loss which allowed him to warm up.  Goffin boasts a 2-0 head-to-head record over his Serbian opponent but Krajinovic has enjoyed success in France previously. The Serb made the final of the Paris Masters back in 2017 and I can see an upset occurring in Montpellier.
Prediction: Krajinovic in 3

Gilles Simon vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

This is without a doubt the most intriguing match of the day as two legends of French tennis clash horns for a place in the last eight. Simon will be playing his first match here after he received a bye in the opening round. The 34-year-old always performs well in France ,with just over a third of his titles being won on home soil. Tsonga took the scenic route in his tough first round victory over Ugo Humbert. Simon and Tsonga have met eleven times in their respective careers, with Tsonga claiming eight of those matches. However, this might be the best opportunity for Simon to secure win number four.
Prediction: Simon in 3
