Our panelists offer up their predictions for the top half of the draw. Roger Federer vs Adrian Mannarino
Yesh Ginsburg: Federer has breezed through this tournament. He has not quite been untouchable, but he has been more than solid enough that only a few in the world can come close. Mannarino isn’t one of those few. Federer in 3
Steen: Federer hasn’t been troubled yet. Mannarino is great on grass but Federer is a heavy favorite for a reason. Federer in 3
Lukas Weese: Roger Federer is in yet another Round of 16 at Wimbledon, this time facing off against Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. Federer has not dropped a set this tournament, yet alone face a break point opportunity on his serve. Mannarino, on the other hand, had to beat Daniil Medvedev in five sets, with only winning 47% of his second serve points. Despite Mannarino winning six of his last seven matches on the grass, Roger is playing at such a high level that he will advance to the quarterfinals. Federer in 3
Gael Monfils vs Kevin Anderson
Yesh: Monfils really surprised everyone with how easily he beat Sam Querrey. He always had the talent to do amazing things on grass. Is he finally putting it all together? His match against Anderson will tell us a lot about that. Monfils in 5
Steen: This should be one of the matches of the day. Monfils is turning back the clock and showing some of his best form. Anderson is a great grand slam player and he’s risen to the occasion at Wimbledon. With Monfils playing this well it’s hard to pick against him though, the Frenchman should serve past his opposition. Lukas: 8th seeded Kevin Anderson is taking on the thrilling Frenchman Gael Monfils for a spot in the quarterfinals. These two have played five times and Monfils has won every time. Anderson is a player that relies heavily on his serve. Last match, he won 87% of his first serve points. If he is hitting his spots and getting free points on his serve, Anderson is too good. Monfils has 30 aces in his last two matches with limited unforced errors. It will be a close match with lots of great shots on both sides, but I like Monfils to power his way into the quarterfinals. Mackenzie McDonald vs Milos Raonic
Yesh: Who saw Mackenzie McDonald getting this far? The American always had talent–he showed that when he qualified for Cincinnati five years ago. He seems very comfortable on the grass, but consistently getting to the Raonic serve might be too much to ask. Raonic in 4
Steen: Milos Raonic is at his best at Wimbledon and facing an inexperienced opponent, he should be a heavy favorite. McDonald is rising quickly but it’s hard to crack Raonic’s serve. Raonic in 3
Lukas: 13th seeded Milos Raonic of Canada is taking on unseeded American Mackenzie McDonald. McDonald had an impressive win over Guido Pella in straight sets, combining 22 aces in his last three matches. Raonic, on the other hand, has been dominant on his serve, winning 87% of his first serve return points in his last match. With 142 winners combined in the last two matches, Milos is a tough player to beat. He is experienced at this level in a Grand Slam tournament compared to McDonald, which is why I give Milos the edge. Raonic in 3
John Isner vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Yesh: Isner has finally reached his first Wimbledon second week. The young Greek, Tsitsipas, has very quietly played very well here. He might be able to eke out a few tiebreaks and pull off the upset. Tsitsipas in 5
Steen: Isner’s h2h edge her may it do it for him. Tsitipas has had a great tournament, but Isner to his credit has reached the second week of a slam, which isn’t always easy for him. With Isner’s serve he should be the favorite to advance. Isner in 4
Lukas: John Isner is the 9th seed at this Wimbledon Championship and is trying to advance to the quarterfinal by facing off against Stefanos Tsitsipas. In his last match, Isner hit 21 aces and won 78% of his total service points. These two players have faced once at the 2017 Shanghai Masters, where Isner won in straight sets. Tsitsipas doesn’t have the experience at this stage of a Grand Slam tournament to compete with Isner. John’s serve will be too dominant, allowing him to advance to the quarterfinals. Isner in 4
