We are finally up to the quarterfinals of the French Open. There will be two women’s quarterfinals match contested on Tuesday, so we have six writers offering their thoughts on the matches. Predicting the matches of Sloane Stephens vs Daria Kasatkina and Madison Keys vs Yulia Putinseva are writers Nurein Ahmed, Brett Margolies, and Manuel Traquete, along with editors Yesh Ginsburg, Steen Kirby, and Brandon Wall.

French Open Predictions Day 10 Women’s Matches

Madison Keys vs Yulia Putinseva

Brandon:
Keys is yet to drop a set at the 2018 Roland Garros and will look to continue this run as she faces off against Putintseva. Surprisingly, Putintseva won the pairs only meeting back in 2016 in a tight three set contest. But the American will be too strong on this occasion and will move into her first French Open semifinal.
Prediction: Keys in 2

Manuel:
Putintseva has had an incredible run, but it’s at this stage of Grand Slam tournaments that fairytale runs usually end.
Prediction: Keys in 2

Nurein:
Madison Keys is the more accomplished player in this match. She has a better serve, better groundstrokes and is a great mover as compared to her opponent. But having said that, Yulia Putintseva has been exceeding expectations. I probably have to chew my words having labeled her a moonballer prior to her match against Konta. Putintseva also beat Stephens in Nurenmberg just before the French Open. I’m inclined to back the Kazakh woman to reach her first ever Grand Slam semifinal, but it is hard to see her handling the power of Keys. I’m tipping the American to continue her fine run in Paris, but I would not be surprised one bit if “Poots’” springs an upset.
Prediction: Keys in 2

Steen:
Putinseva looks to be living up to her potential but Keys should be too tough at this stage.
Prediction: Keys in 2

Brett:
Madison Keys continues to surprise on clay. I don’t think she thought she would make it this far, but here she is with a great opportunity to get to the semifinals. Putintseva’s nice run will get her back near the top 50, but I think Keys will get to the semifinals.
Prediction: Keys in 2

Yesh:
I would not have expected Madison Keys to do this well on clay, but she’s not losing to Putinseva. Winning in the semifinals might be tough for this American, but she will definitely get there.

Sloane Stephens vs Daria Kasatkina

Brandon:
The sky is the limit for Stephens when she’s locked in, and the American certainly looks locked in at this year’s French Open. The US Open Champion has the experience, but will still need to produce her best tennis to get past Kasatkina, who will be full of confidence after taking out the No. 2 seed, Caroline Wozniacki.
Prediction: Stephens in 3

Manuel:
A very even match on paper, which could genuinely go either way. Kasatkina did win when the two faced in Indian Wells earlier this year though.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 3

Nurein:
There is something about the big events that really motivate and inspire Sloane Stephens to perform ever so well. Like I mentioned earlier, Stephens lost to Putintseva in Nurenmberg prior to French Open. A lot would have questioned her motivation to play and it is these inconsistencies that really drag her down. If Stephens could put performances such as the one she showed in dismantling Anett Kontaveit in smaller events, she would have propelled up the rankings even more. Talking of consistency, Kasatkina has been so consistent in beating Grand Slam champions and top 10 players this year. At this moment she is the WTA player I would pay most to watch live. I like her game and some of her shots are effortless when she seems to put so much into it. I think Kasatkina has the edge in this one and if it goes three sets I fancy the Russian even more.

Steen:
American fans would love a sweep of women’s singles on Tuesday but it’ll take a Stephens upset for that to happen. Kasatkina is rolling right now and I’ll back her accordingly.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 3

Brett:
Daria Kasatkina came out strong to close out Wozniacki in two sets. She’ll now face Sloane Stephens who is arguably playing the best out of anyone in the women’s field. Their matches against each other have been tight, and I think this will be the same. Stephens always plays a little better at slams which I believe will help her set up the all-American women’s semifinal in Paris.
Prediction: Stephens in 3

Yesh:
Stephens looks like one of the best in the field, but so did Caroline Wozniacki before Kasatkina got to her. Still, it’s hard to pick against the American here, who looks in full Slam-winning form.
Prediction: Stephens in 2
