We are up to the final ATP match of the season, and it is a shocker. The ATP Finals will crown a new champion, as David Goffin (who just absolutely stunned Roger Federer in the semis) faces off against Grigor Dimitrov. Predicting the final for you are myself (Yesh Ginsburg), Ryan Schick, Brett Margolies, Steen Kirby, and Sam Barker.
Grigor Dimitrov vs David Goffin
Yesh: Goffin might have had to go through the bigger match to get here, but Dimitrov is in better form. Dimitrov absolutely blasted Goffin off the court when the two met earlier this week. Yes, Goffin played much better in his match against Federer. But that wasn’t enough to show me that he can do anything to reverse his result against Dimitrov.
Prediction: Dimitrov in 2
Brett:
I don’t think anyone thought we would end up with a Goffin-Dimitrov final after Dimitrov defeated Goffin 6-2 6-0 on Wednesday. Playing Goffin instead of Federer has to give Dimitrov even more confidence then he already has right now. He just seems like a different type of player right now, and has shown consistency this week that he hasn’t shown throughout his career so far. Look for Dimitrov to once again defeat Goffin comfortably and win the biggest title of his career.
Prediction: Dimitrov in 2
Steen:
Dimitrov won an emotional victory over Sock, but Goffin showed something special to upset Federer and has momentum on his side. This should be a battle but I’ll go with the Belgian to finish the year strong.
Prediction: Goffin in 3

Ryan:
After a crazy 2017 ATP season, this matchup is a fitting finale. Both players, though ranked #6 and #7, deserve to be here, with Goffin in pristine form and Dimitrov coming off a strong year and earning a Masters title in Cincinnati. Dimitrov dominating their meeting in group play, only allow Goffin to win two games. Dimitrov matches up well against Goffin and is the better hard court player, leading him to victory.
Prediction: Dimitrov in 2
Sam:
Certainly not the final we expected at the start of the week but one that the two players deserve. Dimitrov has been the standout player throughout and has dropped just two sets all week, including defeating a certain David Goffin 6-0 6-2 in the group stage. Goffin though will be out for revenge and, after defeating both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, can evidently not be underestimated. Both players desperately want to win and emotions will be high on court. Whoever can control the mental side will win this one.
Prediction: Dimitrov in 3
