Cameron Norrie has put his studies on hold in June 2017 at Texas Christian University and turned professional as a tennis player. During his time at TCU the Brit became the top ranked male college player.
Taking a look at his excellent results whilst there shows why he became the best college male player at TCU. In the 2014/2015 season the Brit had a win/loss ratio in singles of 28-11 and 26-12 in doubles.
Cameron Norrie’s University Career
The following year Norrie improved a little in the singles and didn’t play as much doubles. The South African born Brit had 28-8 in singles and 19-8 in the doubles which showed some improvement.
Cameron Norrie came to the fore however in the 2016/2017 season. The Brit was impressive with the 21-1 in singles, and 18-5 in doubles. In addition to all of this Norrie has been tagged as the Texas region player to watch in 2017.

Finding his feet on ATP Challenger Tour
Since turning professional just before the grass season, the Brit has had some good results on the Challenger Tour, with an overall win loss ratio of 13-5 in that space of time. The last two challenger events (Binghamton & Lexington) saw the Brit take out seeds to make the final of the first and the semi final of the second.
Binghamton saw Cameron Norrie win his first Challenger title and the only person able to end his run in Lexington was Australian John Millman, who destroyed the Brit in straight sets for the loss of only two games.
Following on from these Challenger events the Brit has increased his ranking by 12 places to reach a career high of #187. Also in the final of Binghamton the Brit defeated Jordan Thompson, who famously put out the World number one Andy Murray at Queens Club. This resulted in Norrie tweeting Murray.

This week in the Aptos Challenger Norrie, who had entered on a Special Exempt (as he had last week in Lexington) was finally defeated in a first round. These performances overall should stand the Brit in good stead and certainly will have earned Norrie a place in the US Open qualifying.
