New Superstar? USMNT vs Mexico Predictions and Best Odds

Soccer: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022-Iran at USA With USMNT Goalkeeper, Sean Johnson Is Potentially Part of the USMNT vs. Mexico Game

The USMNT vs Mexico is a landmark occasion for both teams. It is also a rematch of last year’s Concacaf Nations League Final.

USMNT vs Mexico Predictions and Best Odds for June 15, 2023

This Thursday evening at 9:00 PM, the 15th of June, 2023, the United States Men’s National team takes on bitter rivals Mexico, in a repeat of the inaugural championship clash from 2021. The USMNT is blessed with a home-field advantage as the match will be played on a warm spring night in Allegiant Stadium, located in Nevada, USA.

USMNT Current Form

This US team is anything but boring. Their impressive performance in the World Cup, the drama between the Reyna family and Berhalter, and everything coming down to the final group match, with an interim head coach at the helm, all to make it through to the semi-finals of the Nations League, against their most bitter rival… This team has kept it interesting, to say the least. The USMNT destroyed Grenada 7-1 and beat El Salvador 1-0 in order to qualify for the semi-finals. They also drew England and Wales in the World Cup, while defeating Iran in order to move onto the knockout rounds. This is a team that can compete with world-class opposition, but also a team that struggles to find the back of the net. The Red, White, and Blue have failed to score more than once in nine of their previous ten matches. This is why they are excited to unveil Florian Balogun, a man who was signed by Arsenal but scored twenty-one goals in France this season while on loan to Reims.

Mexico Current Form

Although Mexico qualified for the World Cup, they did not make it out of the group stage. After failing to score in their first two matches at the World Cup, El Tri did manage to defeat Saudi Arabia (the only team to beat Argentina in the Winter World Cup) but it was not enough, and they were sent home early. Since then, the Mexican National team has played two competitive matches, recording a win against Suriname, and drawing the Reggae Boyz, in Jamaica, 2-2. Their new manager Diego Cocca should be proud to have made it to this stage of the CONCACAF Nations League, but he faces his biggest challenge yet, away from home against a hot United States team.

Recent Head to Heads

The USMNT has not lost to Mexico in any of their previous five matches. Not to mention one of those matches was the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League final. To find the last time Mexico was victorious over the Stars and Stripes we have to go all the way back to a friendly in 2019. These two clubs did face each other in a friendly on April 19th, 2023, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. The finals of the previous Concacaf Nations League also ended in a draw and was six minutes away from going to penalties, and the final world cup qualifier, in 2022, between these two teams ended 0-0.

Prediction and Best Odds of the USMNT vs Mexico Game

Rivalry matches are difficult to call in any sport. The heightened emotions, the history, and the trash-talking all make for exciting matches, but challenging ones to predict. This match could go either way, but with the vacuum of the No.9 position being filled for the U.S. and home-field advantage, one has to consider them more favorably. Considering both teams have had challenges finding the back of the net, it would be surprising if this was a high-scoring affair. It would also be surprising if this was a blowout. Vegas seems to agree. The under of 2.5 is -190 (Caesars) and both teams’ score No is -140 (Caesars). The United States should have enough to move on and if done in 90 minutes the payout is positive but remember these times as low scoring draws.
