United States Predicted Lineup vs mexico

PREVIEW – This Thursday will see North American soccer fans turn their attention to Las Vegas, Nevada. Allegiant Stadium will host the semifinals for the Concacaf Nations League. The most anticipated matchup is the semifinal between the United States and Mexico. This will be a rematch of the 2021 Nations League final that saw the US win 3-2 in extra time. In the two years since that victory, the United States has become a more talented and accomplished side on the world stage. Here is the United States predicted lineup for their semifinal against Mexico.

How the United States Have Lined-up Recently

The United States’ last match was also against Mexico on April 19 in Arizona. The US lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. The match ended in a draw 1-1. Jesus Ferrara was in the 81 minute and played the full 90 minutes.

United States Recent Form and Tactics

So far in 2023, the United States has played five matches resulting in a 2-2-1 record. For two matches in January, the US lined up in a 4-3-3 formation. Since then they have used a 4-2-3-1 formation.

After Gabriel Slonina started in the loss to Serbia in January, there has been a goalkeeper rotation between Matt Turner and Sean Johnson over four matches. Only two US defenders have started multiple matches with Walker Zimmermann starting three matches and Sergino Dest starting twice. Two United States players have scored multiple goals in 2023 with Ricardo Pepi and Weston McKennie with three and two goals scored, respectively.

United States Injuries to Consider

Several players who were in Qatar last December for the World Cup are out of the roster due to injuries.

Both Zach Steffen and Ethan Horvath will miss out. This means that Sean Johnson and Inter Miami’s Drake Callender will back up Matt Turner.

Other injuries who were regulars before injuries include Captain Tyler Adams, Kellen Acosta, Tim Ream, and Josh Sargent.

United States Predicted Lineup:

Matt Turner-Sergino Dest-Walker Zimmerman-Miles Robinson-Antonee Robinson-Weston McKennie-Yunus Mussah-Giovanni Reyna-Christian Pulisic-Brenden Aaronson-Folarin Balogun.
