Keegan Rosenberry: Burgundy Iron Man Plays Every MLS Minute

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The 2019 Colorado Rapids season is over. Right back Keegan Rosenberry played his first season with the club and he played every minutes of every league match: Started 34 of 34 games, 3060 minutes, 1 goal, 3 assists.

Keegan Rosenberry: Burgundy Iron Man Plays Every MLS Minute

Rosenberry is one of just three field players to do so in 2019. He’s joined in this elite club by former Philadelphia Union teammates Jack Elliot and Haris Medunjanin. Not bad company to be in.

“I do my best to stay healthy and be available for selection. I’ve learned that you can’t really control when the gameday comes and the roster gets selected. You put in a good work of training, try to stay healthy, and do the little things right on and off the field. I’m thankful for a staff that believes in me. We’ve been through a couple coaches this year and I’ve been lucky to be on the right side of the selection,” Rosenberry told Last Word on Soccer.

Rosenberry started all three games under three different managers. He was at times a right center back in a three man back line but spent most of his minutes at right back in a back four. He didn’t have to work too hard to impress Robin Fraser.

“I’ve always liked Keegan. I liked him when he was at Georgetown. I liked him when he was at Philadelphia (Union). I really enjoyed getting to know him from a much closer distance. I appreciate him even more now,” said Fraser.

“He’s a player to say reliable is an understatement. He’s a guy who’s played very well. Wherever you put him, he says ok, he goes out and does it, and he does it well. He’s the kind of player that every team wants to have a lot of. He’s a selfless player who does whatever the team needs him to do.”

Rosenberry’s arrival in Commerce City was much needed last off-season. Right back was a position of incredible weakness. Seven different players started at right back or right wing back for Colorado in 2018 and almost everyone of them was a mess. Rosenberry arrived for a reasonable fee to Philly and solidified the position.

He’s been grateful for the opportunity he’s gotten from three different coaches and for good health.

“I’m thankful for that. There’s a lot of things I can’t control and I just do my best to control the things I can.”

If Rosenberry keeps controlling what he can in 2020, the Rapids right back position should be good hands.
