Forge FC Build with Four More Signings

CPL

HAMILTON, Ont.- The signings are coming thick and fast for Hamilton’s Forge FC this week. After announcing Goalkeeper Triston Henry and Defender Dominic Samuel on Monday, followed by Johnny Grant and Elimane Oumar Cissé on Tuesday — all incredibly positive signings for the first-year club — Forge FC announced four new players earlier today. The club added Dutch defender Daniel Krutzen and Canadians Montther Mohsen, Kadell Thomas, and former Toronto FC and LAFC keeper Quillan Roberts.

More Sigma Connections

Montther ‘Monti’ Mohsen, an Ottawa, Ontario native, joins the other Sigma FC alumni already present on the roster. Forge FC Head Coach and Technical Director Bobby Smyrniotis coached both Mohsen and new signing Kadell Thomas at Sigma FC in League1 Ontario in 2018. Mohsen split time between Sigma FC and Ottawa Fury in USL last year.

Thomas, a striker, finished second in League1 Ontario scoring last season with 17. Smyrniotis noted that Thomas “has shined as one of most dominant attackers in League1 Ontario over the past few years and will surely bring an exciting element to our attacking play.”

Professional Experience

24 year-old Goalkeeper Quillan Roberts signed with LAFC in 2018. A product of the Toronto FC Academy system, Roberts also has League1 Ontario experience with Woodbridge Strikers, being named the league’s Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017.

Roberts famously scored a goal against Jordan Pickford in the FIFA u17 World Cup in 2011. He signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC in 2012.

Top-Level Pedigree

Perhaps the most intriguing of the signings is defender Daniel Krutzen. Krutzen is a product of the renowned KRC Genk academy in Belgium and had a successful stint in the NCAA with the University of Albany. Although a bit of an unknown, Krutzen is certainly an intriguing prospect for the upcoming season. Although the 22 year old has no professional experience, his pedigree suggests that he could be a good option for Smyrniotis and Forge FC.

Training Camp Opens March 5

The club also announced that the 2019 pre-season training camp will commence on Tuesday, with the full training camp roster announced on Monday, March 4th. The club will play a number of pre-season friendlies before the season kicks off April 27th against York 9 FC.
