Ariel Lassiter Helps Los Dos Salvage Point Against Orange County 1-1

CARSON, CA (April 22, 2017) – It was another incomplete performance for LA Galaxy II, but the got a result. Los Dos played local rival Orange County SC to a 1-1 draw at home on Saturday night. The finishing wasn’t great, but they did manage to comeback from a poor start in the second half.

Los Dos Head Coach Mike Muñoz had his team in a 4-4-2. Ethan Zubak started up top. Ryo Fujii highlighted the midfield. Hugo Arellano started at center back in front of goalkeeper Bennet Sneddon.

OCSC Head Coach Logan Pause started a 4-1-4-1. Duke Lacroix started up top. Amirgy Pineda was the holding midfielder. LA Galaxy academy product Oscar Sorto started at center back. Charlie Lyon was in goal.

The two sides played an even and goalless first half. Orange County tested Sneddon early and often. The 20-year-old was quick off his line and made several good saves throughout the match.

He made a mistake in the 23rd minute coming off his line a bit too early and too far. Ian Lonergan was able to clear the ball out of danger, just feet from the goal line.

Los Dos had some chances of their own, but had trouble finishing. The half ended 0-0 with OCSC Captain Pineda on a yellow card.

The visitors had the better play to start the second half. Their hard work came to fruition in the 49th minute when a sent in cross went off Jean Engola for an own goal.

Los Dos was able to turn things around in the 60th minute with Ariel Lassiter came on for Johnathan Estrada. The home side equalized in the 66th minute. Lassiter took a free kick that was saved by Lyon. The rebound fell straight to Adrián Vera, who put it into the back of the net.

The Galaxy pushed for a game winner, but were unable to finish. The match ended 1-1.

Los Dos have one of the youngest teams in USL history. It’s showed the last month, with some tough results and youthful mistakes. They might not be getting results to make the playoffs, but the young players (especially the teenagers) are getting some great experience.

This is a decent result for OCSC. They gave up some good chances but weren’t burned for them. They did some good work that turned into a chance that led to the own goal. Sorto had a good game against his former club as well.
