It the latest edition of our “Last Word On Sports Media” podcast, as we return with guests to talk Super Bowl XLVII coverage by Fox Sports. Plus, how did the booth team of Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen perform in the dramatic Chiefs win over the Eagles? Also, what’s the future in the Fox main booth for the recently retired (again) Tom Brady and more!
T.J. welcomes Ken Fang of Awful Announcing to give his insight and his grades on Fox/their Super Bowl coverage. Ken has some strong thoughts on the quality of the production and believes it’s time for the network to change up it’s legendary “Fox NFL Sunday” pre and post game panelists, especially from the aging Terry Bradshaw and Jimmy Johnson in specific. Ken also has more on Brady and how Fox might choose to utilize him in the future, as well.
And, we go over the TV numbers for this year and how they compare to what Fox had hoped for? Ken and I also discuss NBC potentially getting back in on the bidding for NBA TV packages and could they co-exist with ESPN as a partner on pro hoops in near future?
Next, we welcome Jay Betsil, aka “The Famous Jay,” of DFW Sports Online and the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. Jay gives his thoughts on the Super Bowl coverage and Greg Olsen’s performance.
He also talks the addition of Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks and how the media locally in DFW is treating that acquisition? Jay also has thoughts on Tiger Woods returning to. the PGA Tour in Los Angeles this week and how CBS would love to have him and an extra 2 million or more people watching for the weekend.
Jay also has more on a new Tour docu-series coming out Wednesday on Netflix that has great “all access” coverage of prominent pro golfers.
