The third and final day of F2 testing has arrived as drivers push themselves in their last attempt to prove they’re ready for next season.
Heading into the third and final day of the Formula 2 post-season testing, each driver spent the day maximizing the potential in their car; hoping to impress the respective teams for a 2023 seat in F2.
Morning Session
PREMA driver Ollie Bearman was the only driver to cause a red flag after he hit the Tecpro barrier at Turn 13. Following the red flag, ART driver Theo Pourchaire set the fastest time before being surpassed by his rookie teammate, and reigning Formula 3 champion Victor Martins.
Formula 3 rookie Isack Hadjar made his first appearance in to the Top Ten for Hitech, finishing P8 and setting an identical time to Jehan Daruvula in the MP Motorsport car.

Afternoon Session
Two red flags interrupted the afternoon as Carlin’s Zane Maloney stopped on track after hitting the wall at Turn 14. Despite Maloney’s incident, he was still able to set the fourth fasting time of the session. The second red flag was deployed due to Roy Nissany coming to a halt on the back straight with just 11 minutes of the session left to go.
Both DAMS cars were able to break into the Top Ten for the second afternoon session in a row with rookie Arthur Leclerc leading the way from Ayumu Iwasa.

With testing now finished, seven drivers can comfortably rest knowing they have secured a seat for next season while the other eighteen continue to work tirelessly to find their 2023 spot. Now teams will evaluate the three days’ worth of data to make final decisions for their lineup next year.
The 2022 season has officially closed as both drivers and teams prepare themselves for the 2023 pre-season testing (February 14-16). The testing will take place in Bahrain at the Bahrain International Circuit ahead of the season opener in March at the circuit.
