The next team to become F1 champions will be Ferrari, argues Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque is confident that Maranello’s upward trajectory can translate into victory in the championship standings.
Vasseur implements key changes at Ferrari
Since joining Ferrari at the beginning of 2023, team principal Fred Vasseur has overseen a series of changes.
New technical personnel, strategists and different procedures have all been implemented by the Frenchman.
By making these necessary corrections, but still maintaining the same core group, Ferrari have progressed rapidly in the last two seasons.
Rather than undergoing a complete overhaul, the Maranello squad have been pragmatic in their approach.
This strategy has put them within touching distance of this year’s constructors title – even with a difficult development period after the Spanish GP.
Charles Leclerc believes in the project
Having witnessed the progress at Ferrari in recent years, Charles Leclerc is optimistic about the future.
The 27-year-old explains why world championships are now attainable:
“It’s all about us, how well we are working as a team, and the job we are doing as a team to get to the World Championship.
“I feel like we are working well,” he told Pirelli’s YouTube channel.
“However, it’s a relative sport and it all depends on how well the others are doing as well.
“And they are doing super well for now. So we’ve got a lot of hard work to do, in the next few years, but I believe in it [the project]…
“I have to believe in the project 100%, and I am sure that Ferrari is the next team that will be World Champion.
“We’ve just got to keep working.”
Things change quickly in Formula 1 – something Ferrari have experienced first hand in the last eighteen months.
After seeing Red Bull dominate last year, the Scuderia are now scrapping with McLaren for the constructors title.
Since the corrective upgrades brought to the Italian GP, the SF-24 has been the most complete package on the grid.
This is also relevant for Ferrari’s 2025 prospects, since they have established a reliable baseline for next season.
As Charles Leclerc prepares to welcome Lewis Hamilton as his teammate, the stakes will continue to rise at Maranello.
