Months of speculation are finally over – Adrian Newey’s next step is official. The 65-year-old has agreed to join Aston Martin on a multi-year deal, committing himself to Lawrence Stroll’s project. He begins work at the Silverstone factory on March 1st, 2025, meaning Aston’s 2026 car will be the first he influences.
Aston Martin and Adrian Newey confirm multi-year agreement
It is no secret that Aston Martin are a team with immense ambition. The British squad wants to reach the very top of Formula 1, and their investment over the last three years is proof of this.
Lawrence Stroll has already spent millions on improving the team’s facilities and infrastructure. Alongside this, no expense has been spared in securing the best engineering talent – with the likes of Enrico Cardile and Andy Cowell recently signing deals with the factory.
However, their latest signing is undoubtedly the most significant engineering move of the season. Adrian Newey will officially join the Silverstone-based squad, with his official work at the factory to begin on March 1st.

Team owner Lawrence Stroll, has given the following statement:

It’s the biggest story since the Aston Martin name returned to the sport and another demonstration of our ambition to build a Formula One team capable of fighting for world championships.
“As soon as Adrian became available, we knew we had to make it happen. Our initial conversations confirmed that there was a shared desire to collaborate in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“Adrian is a racer and one of the most competitive people I have ever met. When he saw what we have built at Silverstone – our incredible AMR Technology Campus, the talented group of people we have assembled and the latest wind tunnel in the sport – he quickly understood what we are trying to achieve. We mean business – and so does he.
“Adrian shares our hunger and ambition, he believes in this project, and he will help us write the next chapter in Aston Martin Aramco’s Formula One story.”

Adrian Newey has also shared his thoughts and ambitions:

New wind tunnel facilities, an exclusive engine deal with Honda and World Champion driver Fernando Alonso give them every reason to be at the front in 2026. Ultimately, though, the British team must deliver on these ever-growing expectations.
