Next year Zak O’Sullivan, member of the Williams Driver Academy, will step up to Formula 2 next year with ART Grand Prix
Zak O’Sullivan will move to ART Grand Prix to make his debut in F1’s primary feeder series. The young British driver finished the championship in second place with four wins, a pole position, and another podium. He had the highest number of victories during the 2023 season.
The first win came in Melbourne after the disqualification of Franco Colapinto. The Argentinian is the second name that has been added to the 2024 F2 grid.
O’Sullivan, despite a season of ups and downs, managed to beat both his teammates in Prema. Dino Beganovic, one of the highest contender for the F3 title next year, finished the championship in sixth place. Paul Aron, whose future is still unknown, ended the season in third place, seven points from O’Sullivan. What penalized the Estonian driver was a retirement in the sprint race at Monza.

Towards a new team
ART Grand Prix team principal Sébastien Philippe complimented O’Sullivan on the 2023 season in F3, and he said he is looking forward to seeing what he is capable of in this new series.
“I’m delighted about the collaboration between Zak and ART Grand Prix. He’s a driver we’ve been following for a long time, and he has consistently elevated his level of performance. His background and mindset align with ART Grand Prix’s mission of supporting young drivers to the highest levels of motorsport […] With proper winter preparation, his racing approach and adaptability should enable him to compete at the front.”
For O’Sullivan, being part of a winning team like ART Grand Prix is a great opportunity to show his skills. The team is first in the teams’ championship and the drivers’ championship.
The words of the British driver show his enthusiasm to start his journey in F2 with the ART Grand Prix team:
“I’m excited to be joining ART for my rookie F2 season. I’m really looking forward to getting started. The team has a great depth of experience so can’t wait to get going in the Abu Dhabi tests with them.”
O’Sullivan will take part in the post-season test in Abu Dhabi with the team. Also, the good news for the driver does not end there. O’Sullivan and Colapinto, both members of the Williams Driver Academy, will run Alex Albon’s FW45 in Abu Dhabi.
It will be the first time the young drivers will drive a Formula 1 car, and it is a way for them to prepare for the new Formula 2 car. The latter has been modified to look as much like an F1 car as possible.
We're pleased to confirm @ZakOSullivan and @FranColapinto will be getting behind the wheel of the FW45 in Abu Dhabi! 🤩

The 2024 Grid
O’Sullivan is the third name to be added to the 2024 grid. The English driver will probably have Victor Martins, current Art GP driver, as his teammate. He will take the place of Theo Pourchaire, who is close to winning the championship, but his future seems very uncertain.
