Campos Racing has announced their first driver for the 2023 Formula 3 season in the form of Australian rookie Christian Mansell.
Christian Mansell, the seventeen-year-old Australian driver will be making his full-seat debut in Formula 3 following a two-round guest appearance during the 2022 F3 season. Mansell is the eighth driver to be confirmed for the next year.
2022 F3’s guest appearance
Mansell made his Formula 3 debut during the Hungarian and Belgian Grand Prix weekends for Charouz Racing. Replacing Zdeněk Chovanec due to financial reasons, Mansell was one of seven drivers representing the team in 2022. While his best finish was 22nd, Mansell spent the majority of the year racing in the Euroformula Open Championship.
Driving for CryptoTower Racing, Mansell finished third in the championship taking three victories and fifteen podiums across twenty-six races. He finished a hundred and one points behind champion Oliver Goethe who also made his Formula 3 debut in 2022.
In 2022, Mansell made his debut for Campos Racing during Formula 3 post-season testing alongside Francesco Pizzi, Josep Maria Marti, and Hugh Barter. Mansell participated in the first two days and was able to post times that saw him in the Top Ten.

Following the announcement, Mansell stated:
“To be joining Campos for FIA F3 in 2023 is such an incredible honour, and achievement,” said Mansell. “With a strong showing in the latter part of the season it gives me confidence I can do well in my opening year in FIA F3. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!”
Adrian Campos (Team Principal at Campos) added:
“I would like to extend a warm welcome to Christian (Mansell) on behalf of Campos Racing. It will be a huge challenge for him as it will be his rookie season in the FIA Formula 3, which is an extremely competitive racing series. His previous results, a race winner in other championships, explain well he is a talented driver. Besides, due to his diabetic condition, Christian is an example to follow for everybody as he proves what you can achieve with commitment and determination, even at the highest motorsport level.”
