A night before the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series returns to television on Fox Sports 1, dirt racers Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell took victories in the latest NASCAR iRacing challenge.
As part of this week’s NBCSN Short Track Series, the two won the couple of races that were put on on Tuesday night at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell win Tuesday NBCSN Short Track Races
Larson started the night by leading all 40 laps of the first race and holding off Chase Briscoe, who had been solid in the NASCAR Pro Invitational Series races on FOX prior to Tuesday.
The field was inverted at the start of the second race, but after being wrecked by Justin Allgaier in race 1, Bell held the pole for the start of race 2.
Bell’s biggest competition ended up being Denny Hamlin and not Larson, though.
After 10 laps, Larson looked to go to the inside of Hamlin, but never made the pass work.
Hamlin attempted to ride the cushion – as they call it on the dirt track – on the final turn of the race, paired with an attempted pit maneuver on Bell as he crossed the line.
Hamlin was too late, though, and the No. 95 crossed the start/finish line in first.
The pair will advance to Thursday night’s championship race with William Byron – Monday night’s lone winner – and Kyle Busch – the winner of the ‘Peacock Provisional.’ Denny Hamlin was named as Tuesday’s provisional winner and will also advance to Thursday night.
The series will return to the track on Wednesday night for another evening of preliminary round races. The six-driver field includes Dale Earnhardt Jr. and will compete at Myrtle Beach on Wednesday at the same start time – 7:00 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
